Special situations investing isn’t a formula.
It’s an art.
Vik Uppal recently spoke with PERE Credit about the current opportunity set.
“The supply of capital, especially in the areas in which we play, is still limited.”
Special situations rarely reside in crowded areas or commoditized strategies. They exist in places where capital is misallocated, mandates are too rigid, or patience has worn thin. Finding them requires selectivity, flexibility, and a willingness to diverge from prevailing narratives.
The objective is not activity, but asymmetry.
Not scale, but judgment.
Not consensus, but conviction grounded in downside protection.
